Cookie Policy

1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit a website. It lets the website remember your actions and preferences for a certain time.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the website to work: they let you browse it and use its main features, such as payment. They cannot be switched off.
- Supabase session: only if you are already signed in to a customer account through the French website (you cannot create an account on the UK pages), to manage your session (duration: up to 400 days, or until you sign out)
- Cookie preferences: remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies (duration: 12 months)
- Stripe: needed for secure payment and to prevent fraud (duration: from 30 minutes to one year, depending on the cookie)
3. Kidilab’s own visit measurement
To understand how the website is used and to improve it, we measure visits without identifying you personally: pages viewed, time spent on each page, steps of the creation form reached, where the visit came from (search engine, advert, social network and so on), type of device and country.
This usage data is used for our internal statistics and kept for up to 25 months. The source of the visit stored in kdl_acq is also used to link orders to our campaigns. Some advertising identifiers may be shared with advertising partners to measure purchases, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- kdl_vid: a random identifier that recognises a returning visit (duration: up to 13 months, never extended)
- kdl_acq: remembers the website, search engine or advert that brought you here on your first visit, to measure how well our campaigns work (duration: 90 days)
4. How the website is used: Microsoft Clarity and PostHog
On our website, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand where visitors hesitate or give up: heatmaps and recordings of how visitors move around the pages, with form fields masked. This service sets Microsoft cookies that last up to one year. Microsoft processes the data under its privacy statement.
We also use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how visitors move from page to page through to an order: pages viewed, time spent, where the visit came from, type of device, operating system, language, country and market, linked to a random identifier for your browser and to the characteristics of its first visit (source, market, device, landing page). PostHog does not receive your IP address, your name, your email address or anything you type. The data is kept for up to 25 months and processed by PostHog under its privacy policy. A browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal is not measured.
- ph_phc_kidilabnavigateur_posthog: a random identifier for your browser, for PostHog (duration: 390 days, renewed on each visit)
- kdl_ph_entree: a marker stored in your browser, with no set expiry, that flags the first page of a visit (deleted by the button below)
- ph_phc_kidilabnavigateur_…: markers for the open tab, deleted when the tab is closed
You can object to these kinds of measurement – Kidilab’s own visit measurement (kdl_vid), Microsoft Clarity and PostHog – at any time:
5. Analytics cookies
These let us measure visits to the website and understand how visitors use it, so we can improve our service. Services marked with an asterisk (*) only set cookies with your consent. Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager load on every page in Google’s consent mode (Google Consent Mode): until you accept them, they run without advertising or analytics cookies and send Google only limited signals that do not use cookies.
- Vercel Web Analytics: counts page views across the website, without cookies and without identifying you
- Google Analytics (GA4)*: visit measurement and analysis of how visitors use the website (duration: up to 24 months). Google’s privacy policy
- Google Tag Manager*: tag management, which loads the analytics and advert measurement scripts (including Google Ads conversions). Google’s privacy policy
6. Third-party cookies
The Pinterest advertising tag only loads if you accept it in the cookie banner. The data it sends is described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Google Ads (personalised ads)*: if you accept it in the cookie banner, Google can set its advertising cookies to measure purchases made through our adverts and to show you personalised Kidilab adverts. How Google uses cookies in advertising
The following third parties may set cookies:
- Stripe (secure payment): Stripe’s privacy policy
- PayPal (payment with PayPal): PayPal’s privacy statement
- Mapbox (interactive map): Mapbox’s privacy policy
- Google (Analytics and Tag Manager): Google’s privacy policy
- Microsoft (Clarity, how the website is used): Microsoft’s privacy statement
- PostHog (journeys through the website): PostHog’s privacy policy
7. Managing your preferences
On your first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline the services marked with an asterisk (*). You can change your choice at any time with the button below or with the ‘Manage cookies’ link at the bottom of every page. To object to Kidilab’s own visit measurement, to Microsoft Clarity or to PostHog, use the button in section 4.
8. Browser settings
You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies. Here are the instructions for the most common browsers:
9. How long cookies are kept
Strictly necessary cookies expire at the end of your session or after the maximum period set by each service. How long the other cookies are kept is shown above for each service. Your choice in the cookie banner is kept for 12 months, after which we ask you again.
10. Legal basis
Under regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR), we may store information on your device (for example in cookies), or access information already stored on it, only if we give you clear and comprehensive information and you consent, consent having the meaning it has in the UK GDPR.
This does not apply where an exception in Schedule A1 to PECR applies. The exceptions include storage or access that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, and collecting statistics on how our website is used, solely to improve it and without sharing the data except to help us improve it, with a simple and free way to object.
11. Contact
For any question about cookies, email us at contact@kidilab.com or use our contact form.
